This exhibition began with a miniature - a painting from Rajasthan by an unknown artist, circa 1950. The painting features a yogi (or guru) who has retreated to a remote cave, and holds court with an audience.

We invited artists to respond to this painting with a small work (width under 12”) of their own - either one they had previously made, or a new work painted for this exhibition.

They were asked to submit several paintings, from which we could select one. After many studio visits, eventually works by 22 artists were selected which we ‘book-ended’ with the Rajasthan miniature itself and another Rajasthan miniature.
